Ventura Book Signing: Larry Ames "Never Dull"

Saturday, October 21, 2017 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

In Ventura:

Book Signing with Larry Ames

Larry Ames’ experiences and the incredible personalities he met throughout a career as a sportswriter and editor make Never Dull, A Sports Journalist's 41-Year Adventure, much different from the average sports book that focuses on athletes, team championships, and statistics. Instead, the stories are lively, funny, and touch on many iconic moments and people in sports history. While it is a sports book, it takes us behind the scenes and deals with the human side of sports. Some of the people mentioned are well known; many others may not be known universally, but their stories will be appreciated by all. Never Dull will appeal to readers of both genders and all ages.

Boston native Larry Ames, 73, was a sports journalist for 41 years. He worked for the Waltham (Mass.) News-Tribune from 1965-1974, The Salem (Mass.) News from 1974-1978 and The Boston Globe (1978-1994), where he was an assistant sports editor for what was considered by many to be the top sports section in America. He retired as sports editor of the Ventura County Star in 2006 after working there for 10 years.
